Many diabetes teams tell patients to pause empagliflozin, sip fluids if allowed, and restart only when eating and drinking normally again — with ketone checks if you feel unwell. Weight is a side effect, not the licence
Calories lost in urine can trim a little weight. Empagliflozin is not a dedicated slimming tablet and is a poor substitute for a prescribed GLP-1 when weight is the main goal. Using it “off the diabetes plan” still carries genital infection and DKA risk.
