Empagliflozin 25 mg is an oral sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It lowers the kidney’s threshold for glucose so more sugar leaves the body in urine, independent of insulin secretion.
Doctors prescribe it for type 2 diabetes, often with metformin or other agents. Licensed uses in some countries also include reducing cardiovascular death in certain patients with type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and treating some forms of heart failure or chronic kidney disease — always according to the local label.
25 mg is the higher adult tablet strength; many people start at 10 mg. We ship to the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand. Stay hydrated and know the warning signs of ketoacidosis, even if blood sugar is not extremely high.

How it works
SGLT2 in the proximal tubule reabsorbs most filtered glucose. Blocking it glycosuria increases, which reduces plasma glucose and provides a modest calorie loss. Osmotic diuresis can slightly lower blood pressure. Because the mechanism needs adequate kidney filtration, the drug is less useful when eGFR is very low.
Swallow once daily, with or without food, at the strength your prescriber chooses. Drink regular fluids unless you have been told to restrict them. Check ketones if you feel unwell, especially during fasting, illness or low-carb diets. Pause the tablet around major surgery or prolonged fasting if your care team uses a sick-day rule.
Genital yeast infections and urinary tract infections are more common. Other risks: volume depletion, dizziness, fournier’s gangrene (rare), and euglycaemic diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for type 1 diabetes unless a specialist protocol exists. Report nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or breathing difficulty urgently. Monitor kidney function as advised.

Is 25 mg the usual starting dose?
Often 10 mg comes first. 25 mg is used if extra glucose lowering is needed and the lower dose is tolerated.
Will I lose weight?
Average weight change is modest from calorie loss in urine. It is not a dedicated slimming drug.
Can I take it with semaglutide?
Combination therapy is sometimes prescribed. Only a clinician should combine diabetes medicines and watch for dehydration or GI effects.
Do you ship empagliflozin to the UK and USA?
Yes. It is a prescription medicine (for example Jardiance-class products) in both countries.
Why do I urinate more?
Glucose in the urine pulls water with it. That is expected. Dark urine, dizziness or very dry mouth means you may need medical advice on fluids.
